Our Working Culture

Successful together

Kathrein Mobile Communication is more than just the sum of its employees. Each employee is an individual and is important to us, important for our success. We cater to our employees’ needs, promote their potential, and align their goals with our company goals. We support our employees in their working environment in order to foster creativity and productivity. Their knowledge, skills and experience are an important factor for shaping the connected world of tomorrow.

Fair working conditions and diversity are among the drivers of innovation and technology. Our employees benefit from an attractive working environment. Encouraging their career development is one of the keys to our high quality standards.

Our HR managers connect the senior management to the HR department. They not only administrate and manage, but are business partners who provide competent advice and coordinate various interfaces in our globally operating organisation.

The personnel development offers Talent Management programmes, which support ambitious (young) professionals by giving them the opportunity to successfully develop their skills and competencies and use them for targets within the company.

Annual performance appraisals as well as skill and competence management complement our individual employee development programme.

    Our Leadership Principles

Supported by successful senior leaders, our aim at HR is to recruit, train and retain the best employees.

Professional leadership manifests itself in everyday life through the competence to

    • lead oneself
    • lead the team
    • lead the business

The Leadership Principles of Kathrein Mobile Communication reflect this understanding.

In the annual UpwardFeedback we offer our managers the opportunity to reflect on their leadership behaviour and to improve it through constructive feedback.

We assume responsibility for the safty and health of our employees

Optimal working conditions and an actively practiced occupational safety culture are basic prerequisites for all our activities. Our internal standards for workplace safety are even higher than the relevant laws and regulations or technical specifications. They guarantee the safest possible working environment for our employees. We also ensure that suppliers and service providers comply with comparable standards. Our occupational health and safety management system, which is certified in accordance with OHSAS 18001, provides for the continuous development of these measures.

Our corporate health management has the task to maintain and promote the health and well-being of our employees. Our goal is to raise individual health awareness and ensure a healthy working environment.

Health management comprises four major areas:

    • Workplace health promotion and a wide range of sports and exercise activities
    • Psychosocial risk management
    • Vocational rehabilitation management
    • Prevention of and intervention in case of addictive disorders

"Betriebliches Eingliederungsmanagement" (BEM, vocational rehabilitation management) aims to help employees to return to work after long or repeated periods of health-related absence and to avoid problems at the workplace.

A strong emphasis is placed on psychosocial factors in the workplace. Regular surveys and workplace assessments help to identify possible dangers or stresses as early as possible and eliminate them if necessary. In addition, employees and managers have the opportunity to learn through lectures, seminars and workshops how to cope with or avoid stress and excessive workload.

    An apprenticeship that connects

We offer young people a solid and practice-oriented career start. Every year, we train qualified junior staff. Interested (high) school graduates can apply for an apprenticeship in a wide range of technical, commercial and IT professions as well as dual study programmes. A strong focus is put on providing hands-on experience for apprentices in our various departments, complemented by interdisciplinary project work, in-house classes and seminars. Of course, we make sure that our apprentices don’t miss out on fun and team building events. We encourage their sense of community through a number of leisure activities such as summer parties, football tournaments and outdoor excursions.

Learning from each other - in the ICARO Creative Alliance

The Innovation Creativity Alliance Rosenheim (ICARO) is a network of companies including Kathrein, Schattdecor, Marc O'Polo and Hamberger. Through this initiative, the four companies promote creative exchange, use common resources and thus strengthen their innovative strength, attractiveness and sustainability as employers in Rosenheim. ICARO events on these topics aim above all at a transfer of experience and knowledge between employees, managers and board members of the associated companies.
