Innovative System Extensions for “UFOcompact plus®“

Kathrein, a specialist for headends, presents its extensions to the successful “UFOcompact plus®“ signal processing system at the ANGA.COM:

4-way HDMI encoder UFX 894

The HDMI encoder module UFX 894 converts up to four HD or SD video signals into H.264/MPEG-1 layer 2 compressed streams and feeds these to a neighbouring module, e.g. a transmodulator or IP streamer, via the UFOcompact plus® backplane for further processing.
The HDMI encoder is also equipped with two integrated multiplexers, which makes effective channel utilisation in the cable network possible. UFX 894 offers exceptional image quality and is future-proof thanks to an FPGA-based encoder solution. The UFX 894 will be available from specialised traders as of October 2016.

Connection cable UFZ 810

The connection cable facilitates a network redundancy for the UFOcompact plus® headend system. Connecting two UFG 810 base units generates a half-load parallel operation. In the event of a fault, one power supply unit supplies power to both base units. The redundancy is automatic and seamless, which ensures permanent and reliable operation. Furthermore, the working life of the power supply unit is increased thanks to power reduction. The UFZ 810 is capable of hot plugging, which means that power supply units can be replaced without disrupting the operation.

“SNMP monitoring" software option UFW 800

The UFW 800 software extension designed for UFOcompact plus® is available for purchase as a software option. This extension provides an SNMP interface that can be used to monitor all important headend system status parameters, such as module status, fan status, signal qualities, etc.

HDMI encoder UFX 100

The encoder is the perfect add-on for a headend to feed in an additional signal from a DVD player or a set-top box. Camera signals can also be fed into the DVB-C/T network without any problems by means of the various interfaces at the input (HDMI/YPbPr/S-video/AV). Transport streams are recorded or played out via a USB stick/hard disk, which enables the users to feed in their own contents such as videos, menus, hotel offers, promotional trailers or info films.
