Kathrein Presents Innovative Mobile Communication and Broadcasting Solutions in Singapore
The next mobile communication standard, 5G, is one of the central topics at Kathrein’s exhibition stand at CommunicAsia (German joint stand, Hall B, Level 1, Stand 1L3-01). The communication technology specialist is presenting two different prototypes of 5G antennas made of materials such as glass and ceramics that have not previously been used in this application. “These developments clearly show our claim and our ability to actively shape the smartly connected world of tomorrow,” says Anton Kathrein, CEO of the Kathrein Group.
Among the exhibits is also a 12-port antenna which combines two low bands with four high bands. It can be very flexibly deployed for individual MIMO applications and covers all frequency ranges broadband-relevant in the APAC region.
Small cell solutions specifically for hotspots
Kathrein is also showcasing different solutions from its small cell portfolio which improve mobile coverage at hotspots. These include the multi-award winning Kathrein Street Connect system. The antenna is installed in the ground and extends the mobile capacity at hotspots with high data traffic. Another solution that was developed for particularly lively spots such as city centres is Kathrein Inside Connect. It is a modular system integrated into billboards, advertising columns and bus shelters and is therefore not visible.
“In the area of building digitalisation, we are introducing new components for our mobile communication system K-BOW. These components offer more flexibility and deployment options,” says Jürgen Walter, Head of the Business Unit Solutions at Kathrein. On display is, for example, a particularly efficient, high-power remote unit which enables not only mobile but also Wi-Fi coverage over an Ethernet interface.
New system for monitoring broadcasting systems
At BroadcastAsia (German Pavilion, Stand 4H4-01), Kathrein is presenting an innovative system for technically monitoring broadcasting systems. It enables broadcast providers to ensure ultra reliable transmission 24/7. Kathrein Smart Monitoring uses special sensors to record all important operating parameters of the system components in real time and compares them with the target values from regular operation. Critical changes of conditions and violations of threshold values release an alarm, which is reported via app, text message or email.
As a further new development in the field of broadcasting, Kathrein is introducing the UHF Cavity Slot Antenna series. It combines easy connection and startup (plug and play) with high broadband flexibility. The antenna family includes different types for small, medium and high transmission performances. Its compact design enables extremely low wind loads and weights, and thereby fast and easy installation.
