News from the Kathrein Group

“Forscherinnen-Camp”, a research camp for Bavarian schoolgirls, entered its fourth round: From 29 October to 2 November 2018, girls between the ages of 15 and 18 had the opportunity to take on the role of an engineer. For the fourth time already, Kathrein hosted the camp in Rosenheim in cooperation with the Rosenheim Technical University and the Educational Institute of Bavarian Industry, bbw. This year, the camp revolved around the topic “Smart Home – wireless identification of objects”. An exciting week with many insights into the world of work and study awaited the students. We accompanied the group day by day.

Spending a semester abroad in New Zealand

Michael Maier is a former apprentice at Kathrein SE and is currently completing dual studies at the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences. There, he is studying mechanical engineering and is also working in research and development in the Products division at Kathrein. In order to improve his English and gain experience abroad, he went to New Zealand for one semester. Here is his experience report:

A participant in this year’s regional “Jugend forscht” competition, which Kathrein has been hosting since 2017 together with the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences, made it: 17-year-old Noah Dormann from Sondermoning (district of Traunstein) took first place in the technology category at the national final of Jugend forscht. His project: “The Rubber Stretching Bench: Material Testing System for Elastomers”. Last week the young researcher went to the award ceremony with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. Congratulations to Noah!
