Kathrein expedites its restructuring: As from 1 May 2018, the company’s legal form changed into a public limited European Company (Societas Europaea, SE). The group now operates under the name of KATHREIN SE. As a further restructuring measure, Katek GmbH, headquartered in Grassau and up to now a member of the Kathrein Group, was sold to PRIMEPULSE SE, a Munich-based holding company.

“The SE is a leading and proven legal form in Europe. It strengthens our competitive position and matches our growth targets perfectly,” says Anton Kathrein, CEO of the Kathrein Group. “We can now operate and control our reorganised group directly as KATHREIN SE, thereby strengthening the management and control of our complex company.” The new legal form has no influence on current business or the location of the headquarters, which will stay in Rosenheim. All of KATHREIN-Werke KG’s assets were transferred to KATHREIN SE.

Company remains family-owned

The conversion of Kathrein into a private limited company does not involve any plans to go public. “All Kathrein shares will remain within the family, there will be no public offering of stock,” adds the CEO. KATHREIN SE is managed by an executive board consisting of Anton Kathrein, Joe Doering, Jürgen Walter, Hans-Joachim Ziems and Elmar Geissinger. A five-member supervisory board supervises the executive board.

Employment contracts are transferred without changes

With the conversion of the legal form, nothing changes in practice for the employees. Their employment contracts continue with KATHREIN SE as employer. Since KATHREIN SE joined the Employers’ Association of the Metalworking and Electrical Industries vbm on 1 May 2018, the collective labour agreement also remains in force.

Focus on core competencies

The sale of Katek GmbH is part of the Kathrein Group’s restructuring and its focus on core competencies in the field of high-frequency technology. “The Katek Group has developed tremendously over the last few years. I would like to extend my thanks to all employees of Katek GmbH for their support. I am sure that Katek will have excellent prospects as a new member of PRIMEPULSE SE,” says Anton Kathrein.

The Katek Group is one of the largest electronics manufacturing services in Germany. They have around 830 employees at their locations in Grassau and Györ (Hungary) and achieved a turnover of around €145 million in the fiscal year 2017.

Their customers include notable national and international companies from various industries, such as automotive, telecommunications, consumer and industrial electronics as well as medical and measuring instrument engineering.
