Kathrein Automotive Receives Quality Award from Ford

Kathrein has received the Ford Motor Company’s Q1 Award for Outstanding Performance for its subsidiary Kathrein Automotive China. The automobile manufacturer thus acknowledged the performance of the site in Suzhou. This is the highest award that can be given by the US automotive group to suppliers.

The quality system Q1 – Quality First – was introduced by Ford to ensure a uniform production and quality standard in the field of component manufacturing worldwide. The decisive factor is an extensive audit, which evaluates, among other things, quality and environmental management systems, material management, engineering services and customer care. The Q1 Award is also a basic requirement for being a Ford series supplier.

Kathrein Automotive manufactures automotive antenna systems in Suzhou for export to both the American market and the local Chinese market. In 2017, the plant in Suzhou will supply more than one million components to Ford. In the audit, the site greatly exceeded the minimum requirements for the Q1 Award.

“Ford’s Quality Award for our Chinese plant is an outstanding recognition for our work,” said Michael Heise, CEO of Kathrein Automotive. “The award is also an incentive for us to continuously improve our processes so that we can remain a strong and reliable partner to our customers.”
