Kathrein Streamlines Central Functions and Products Business Unit

In the course of its restructuring process, Kathrein plans to streamline the Products business unit and adapt further central functions to future requirements. In this context, around 250 jobs are to be cut in Rosenheim by the end of next year. Together with the works council and IG Metall union, the company is currently working on socially acceptable solutions for affected employees, which are to be presented at the beginning of 2019.

In its strategic reorientation, the company is concentrating on its core business: high-frequency technology in mobile communications. The restructuring of the Kathrein Group also requires adjusting the headcount in Rosenheim to the envisaged leaner structures.

In their talks with the works council and the IG Metall union, the Executive Board presented a package of measures, which, among other things, included the reduction of around 250 jobs in Rosenheim by the end of 2019. Offers will be worked out for the affected employees by the end of this year and presented at the beginning of 2019.

“The Executive Board regrets these measures very much. However, they are necessary and unavoidable in view of the challenges that Kathrein is still facing. It is all the more important to us to implement the staff reductions as socially compatible as possible,” says Anton Kathrein, CEO of the Kathrein Group. “This is our primary goal for further discussions with the employee representatives.”
