The first activities in the field of car antenna systems at Kathrein date back to the 1930s. Since then, the company has played a decisive role in shaping the market for automotive antenna systems through a series of technical innovations.
The Blaupunkt Antenna Systems Group was added to Kathrein Automotive in 2010.
In the same year, the long-standing shareholding in the South American market leader in the field of automotive antennas, Olimpus Automotive in Sao Paulo/Brazil, was increased to 100%.
The two acquisitions are impressive evidence of the strong commitment of the Kathrein Group to automotive antennas.
The antenna activities of Kathrein Automotive are managed from Rosenheim and Hildesheim. From here, we manage a lean, yet powerful team of engineering, sales and purchasing experts, as well as the global activities of our business, which employs over 1,000 people.
The production plant in Portugal guarantees logistically favourable access to the euro zone with attractive production by European standards, while our factory in China serves the global as well as the local market with technically high-end antenna products. Our plant in Brazil primarily supplies the South America region, while our new plant in Mexico serves the North American market in the NAFTA region.
In all this, we have a clearly defined goal in mind. Taking the two acquisitions of Blaupunkt Antenna and Olimpus Automotive in 2010 and the market success of recent years as a starting point, Kathrein Automotive aims to become the world market leader in the field of automotive antennas.
Kathrein Automotive has a global presence, which we will further intensify in the coming years. At the same time, this set-up means that we are in a position to offer our customers a wide range of alternative technical features and qualities from the various group companies, as a full-range provider.
