Kathrein presents pioneering solutions for mobile communication at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (22 - 25 February). A number of global innovations will be presented to industry professionals at the sector’s most important trade fair. They include the innovative system “Kathrein Street Connect” for mobile communication in city centres and an LTE compensator for high-speed data reception in motor vehicles. The award-winning Kathrein Smart City - a highlight at last year’s trade fair stand - has been reprogrammed and expanded.

Kathrein has been honoured with two of the prestigious German Design Awards. The K-BOW Remote Unit, a solution for indoor mobile communication, was amongst the prize winners in the category “Excellent Product Design – Building and Elements”. Because of its impressive concept, this unit had already gained the iF Design Award 2015. The interactive Kathrein Smart City impressed the judges in the category “Excellent Communications Design – Interactive User Experience”. Both prizes were presented last Friday (12 February) in Frankfurt.

Kathrein has recently fitted a hotel complex on the island of Mauritius with its new indoor mobile communications system K-BOW. This has enabled the Hennessy Park Hotel, located in the trendsetting technology park Ebène Cybercity, to optimise mobile network coverage in its buildings. Network operator Emtel – which is based in the Cybercity – plans to apply the innovative system on a large scale throughout the approximately 60-hectare park. The technology site is considered an important bridge between Africa and Asia.

Kathrein has opened a new office in Asia-Pacific for regional business and sales management. At the beginning of this year, Ashwini Bakshi assumed responsibility for the important APAC region out of Singapore. This step is part of the strategy to enhance presence in regional markets and to serve customers comprehensively.

Kathrein introduces an innovative solution for mobile communication in city centres. In collaboration with Swisscom, Switzerland's leading telecom provider, Kathrein has developed “Kathrein Street Connect”, an in-ground antenna system that enhances mobile capacity at hotspots with high data traffic. Following a trial period in Bern, the antenna will be brought into operation in selected cities in Switzerland in early 2016. Kathrein has started to market the new system worldwide.
